How we see people matters much more than what we say to them. It’s not technique, it’s perspective. We are a flat organization with the focus of empowering people to do the right thing rather than relying on a hierarchy of managers to make decisions.
Taking responsibility for results is the essence of accountability. We highlight peer accountability in our “cluster model”, a core organizational structure in which a small group of peers huddles together to celebrate wins and fix shortfalls.
Passion for Learning
We are a leadership development company where we all have the opportunity to be leaders. As leaders, we are really teachers and we can’t teach if we don’t know. We learn how to improve in our individual roles and increase our sphere of influence, we learn how our operations run so we can be better partners to them, and we learn about our culture to enhance and achieve the mission of our organization.
Love one Another
People should not be treated like objects. We have to see each other as individuals, who have needs, hopes, and dreams. We focus on caring for each other as a family. Through our affiliation with Elevate Charities, our organization is part of an “Emergency Fund” that assists those in need as a result of an accident, unexpected illness, natural disaster, or other financial emergency.
Intelligent Risk Taking
What makes a risk “intelligent?” Is an intelligent risk just one that pays off? We have a field-driven model where the organization is not directed by a corporate office, but by each affiliated leader that are placed in the operations we serve. These leaders seek lots of feedback before implementing. We fire bullets before cannon balls…try it just a little, and check results. Most companies aren’t willing to take that risk. For our organization, it is a key element of what has created our success.
We celebrate by recognizing those individuals who are creating Moments of Truth for those we serve. We share the financial success of the organization with those who drive and create the results. We support and celebrate the operations who achieve the “Ensign Flag”…one of the highest honors that can be bestowed on a healthcare operation.
Ownership is a mentality. It is full of pressure, but we can overcome that pressure and succeed in the end. We need to be more like personal trainers, allowing our teams to feel the pressure of the weights. We need to help guide and coach them to push through those weights, and allow them to feel the pain, but then also feel the growth and sense of accomplishment in the end that comes with pushing through hard things. We are training our future leaders. We have to help instill in them the feeling of ownership.
